Padua College of Commerce and Management established in the year 2011. The present strength of our College is 600 students and 25 staff members. Books are a passport to all kinds of knowledge, intelligence and wisdom. In order to cultivate the habit of reading, enhance knowledge and to support the educational endeavours, we have the provision of a spacious and well equipped Library. Our library is furnished with sixty seating capacity and with a total of more than six thousand books. Our library accommodates 6 National Journals namely Management Research, Accounting Research & Audit Practices, Organizational Behaviour, Soft Skill, Abhigyan, Management Accountant and 6 Magazines namely Employment News, Competition Success Review, India Today, The Week, New Leader, Sudha (Kannada) and 4 newspapers namely The Hindu, Business Line, Udayavani(Kannada), Vijayakarnataka (Kannada) are available in the library.

Classification & Cataloguing:
The College library uses Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme for classifying the books. Classified Catalogue Code is used to prepare the catalogue entries in the library software.

Library Automation:
The Library is computerized and Library database is created using Integrated Library Management Software “EASYLIB”. The issue and return of books are made using this software.

Procedure of searching the catalogue
OPAC facility is available in the library which allows the readers to search the books by Author, Title, Publisher, Subject, Keywords etc. and helps them to know the status of availability of books in the library and reserve them if they are lent out.

NLIST:
N-LIST – is a digital library facility of National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content. Our college library is a participating member of this network. Students are given user id and password to get access to this facility. There are more than 3828 e-journals and 1,34,000 e-books on this database.

Membership:
Membership of library is open to the students and staff of the college. The Library provides two borrowers card to each student which cannot be transferred to others. Apart from this every student need to show their ID card for any kind of service from the Library. Old students are also permitted to use the library during working hours except borrowing facilities.

Guidelines to the Library Users

  • Readers are expected to maintain reading environment in the library.
  • Making noise, use of mobile phone inside the library is strictly prohibited.
  • The Library is open to the staff and students during the working days of the college. Old students are also permitted to use the library during working hours except borrowing facilities
  • The Library and Reading Room will be open every day from 8.30 A.M to 4.30 P.M. except on Saturday. Library will be open till 1.00 P.M. on Saturday.
  • While visiting the library, every member should enter their details with signature in the register.
  • The Library provides two Borrowers' Card to each student which cannot be transferred to others. The Borrower’s card must be kept carefully by the student and are to be used for the entire course of study or until a student leaves the college. If the cards are lost the students should report the fact immediately to the librarian and make arrangements to get another set of cards with a fine of Rs. 25 per card.

 

Issue of Books:

  • Books will be issued to the students on all working days of the college. Students should apply for library books on the prescribed application slip which should be dropped into the drop box.
    -No student is allowed to take more than 2 books at a time.
    -Retaining the books for more than the stipulated period is liable for a fine of Rs.1/day/book. The book may however be renewed for another week, if there is no other application for the same book.
    -A student will not be entitled to get his/ her admit card of Semester examination unless he/ she obtains a clearance certificate from the librarian.
  • All books, magazines and furniture must be handled with care. Books lost, torn, defaced, marked or damaged in any way shall have to be replaced by the borrower along with the fine as fixed by the college. Students are expected to examine the books issued to them and draw the attention of the librarian if they are found damaged.
  • During semester examination students are permitted to apply for two books from the library by paying an amount of Rs 100 per book as a caution deposit. They are permitted to keep these books till the last day of the examination as per the time table. The refund of the caution deposit can be obtained by the students immediately after the exams.
  • We are very receptive to any suggestion that can help us to offer better services to the best of our abilities and means. It helps us to sort out, identify and rectify any difficulties a library user may encounter as regards various levels of using the up-to-date information.
  • Disregard of library rules, indiscipline and misbehaviour may lead to suspension from library services until the student gets the Principal’s permission in writing.
  • The Library is under CCTV Surveillance.
